APRIL 2016

The Creative Environment Intramuros, which was launched as the first Creative Environment of Design Week Philippines (outside Manila FAME), was a celebration of the rich cultural and creative scene that lived within the walls of Intramuros. This initiative aimed to attract more artists and creative entrepreneurs to the community, infusing new energy and innovation, which in turn enhanced the economic and civic capital of Intramuros.

Through the Creative Environment Intramuros, collaboration between artists, brands, and audience of Design Week Philippines were forged. There were a total of 29 events (Slingshot Philippines, Manila FAME, Creative Environment Intramuros which consists of 22 design-related activities, and 5 partner events) in 14 different venues and in partnership with 24 brands/organizations for the April 2016 Edition of Design Week Philippines.

APRIL 2016

In the recently concluded 63rd edition of Manila FAME, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) recognized exporters and designers through the Katha Awards, considered as the most prestigious award in the Philippine design scene. The Katha Awardees for April 2016 are the following: Console Table by Schema (Best Design for Furniture); Henesius Floor Lamp by Vito Selma (Best Product Design for Home Decor); Ladies Fans by Casa Mercedes (Best Product Design Award for Holiday Décor and Gifts); Adlaw necklace and Buwana clutch of Maskara Collection by Joanique (Best Product Design Award for Fashion); Ito Kish (Best Booth Display); and Binhi by Ito Kish (Special Citation: Eco-Design Award).
